Import Clearance
We help you get arriving cargo declared, released and on its way to you.
What it is
Import Clearance, in plain terms
Clearance is the process of declaring arriving goods to Sri Lanka Customs, paying any duties and taxes that apply, and having the goods released. It runs on documents: if they are complete and consistent, clearance is routine; if they are not, the cargo waits.
Customs rules and tariffs change, so we check the current requirements for your goods before the documents are lodged. We then coordinate the process and keep you informed at each step: what has been lodged, what is outstanding and when your goods are released. Getting it right first time is the surest way to avoid delays, storage charges and penalties.

Questions
Common questions
How much duty will I pay?
Duties and taxes are set by Sri Lanka Customs according to the type and value of the goods. We do not set them. Once we see your invoice we can help you understand what is likely to apply.
How long does clearance take?
It depends on the goods, the documents and whether the shipment is selected for inspection. Complete documents are the best way to keep it short.
